Men’s health: Simple ways to take care of yourself

Life gets busy, and with so many priorities, it’s common for men to put their health on the back burner. But it’s important to prioritize your health so you can live your best life and be there for the people and activities that you love.

Visit your doctor

  • Schedule a routine check-up. This can help you monitor your health and catch potential concerns early.
  • Talk to your doctor about what screenings you might need based on your family health, health history, and age. Ask about prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer screening recommendations.

Take care of your mental health

  • Talk to a counselor. If you feel stressed, depressed, or anxious, you’re not alone. Seeking help for these common issues is a sign of strength, not weakness.
  • Make time to connect with others. Pursue a new hobby by joining a class or group, or join a local sports team.

Exercise and eat healthy

  • Make exercise a habit by doing activities like walking, swimming, or biking for at least 30 minutes a day.
  • Eat healthy meals that have lean protein (chicken or fish), vegetables (broccoli or spinach), and whole grains (brown rice or quinoa). Drink water instead of energy drinks or soda.

Taking care of your health doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Paying a little more attention to your physical and mental well-being can help you feel better day to day and stay more present in the life you’re building.
